CHANDIGARH: A prominent educationist and academician Dr Navjot Kaur today took charge as Principal of prestigious educational institute Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Chandigarh being run by the Sikh Educational Society in the presence of its president Gurdev Singh Brar and secretary Col (Retd.) Jasmer Singh Bala. She had joined in the college as lecturer in English and is currently serving as Associate Professor.
Dr Navjot Kaur has an illustrious academic career spanning 25 years and has many distinctions to her credit. She has authored books with International publications, written many research papers for reputed journals, and has also been a member of their Advisory Board/Editing/Reviewing Committee. Currently she is a member of the Syllabi-framing Committee, PU Chandigarh.
She has held various administrative positions in the College such as Bursar, Dean Research, Registrar Publications, NIRF Nodal Officer, Nodal Officer Electoral Literacy Club, Editor-in-Chief College Magazine, Co-ordinator Gurmat Hobby Classes, Co-ordinator UGC NET Classes, Co-ordinator MA Co-opted classes, Co-ordinator Guru Nanak Sacred Forest SGGS College, Co-ordinator Young Speakers’ Association. She was instrumental in establishing Guru Nanak Sacred Forest which has 550 native trees of Punjab (37 species) on the College campus and collaborated with various Govt Institutes (PBB, ENVIS, PSCST, CREST, Forest & Wildlife Preservation Deptt. and Deptt. of Water & Soil Conservation).
On the occasion, Dr Navjot Kaur said that her future vision is to lead the prestigious Sri Guru Gobind Singh College into an institute of higher academic excellence with a global presence.
